ITS STORY
The mosque was built by Çandarlı Ali Paşa, vizier of Yıldırım Bayezid, before 1394 according to its endowment deed. Its domes, side wings and minaret fell in the 1855 earthquake, and it took its present form in the repairs that followed. The graveyard in its garden has a memorial grave for Ali Paşa; his actual tomb is in İznik.
History
It was built by Yıldırım Bayezid’s vizier Çandarlı Ali Paşa. Ali Paşa was the eldest son of Kara Halil Hayreddin Paşa, one of the influential viziers of the reign of Fâtih Sultan Mehmed. There is no clear historical evidence about his birth place and date.
Architecture
