ITS STORY
Known locally as the tomb of Okçu Baba, this 14th-century tomb in fact belongs to Nusret Paşa according to archival records. Being close to the city walls, its true identity was forgotten over time. It was repaired and opened to visitors in 2012.
History
The tomb, which is mistakenly known as “Okçu Baba” among the public, was attributed to a person who is said to have participated in the conquest of Bursa. However, the real story of the tomb built in the 14th century points to a different identity in the light of Bursa qadi records and Ottoman archive documents.
Architecture
The structure has 0.50 m wide walls. It was built using a combination of cut stone and brick. Its interior dimensions are 3.45 × 3.45 m. The upper cover consists of a dome placed on a square drum transitioned by squinches on the inside. From the outside, it is covered with a hipped roof covered with tiles.
